The Pacific Northwest Human Resources Strategic Forum is pleased to
sponsor an afternoon with one of the most important and guiding thinkers
in our field: Peter Block.
As a consultant to some of the world’s largest and complex
corporations, governments and public service institutions for more than
thirty-five years, Peter has been able to translate his experience and
success into what many would consider among the most influential and
effective strategies, frameworks and practices in the field of
organization change.
Peter has just completed his seventh book, Community: The Structure
of Belonging. He is the author of a number of best-selling books. His
most widely known book: Flawless Consulting: A Guide to Getting Your
Expertise Used (1st edition 1980, 2nd edition 1999) received the
first place 2004 Members’ Choice Award by the Organization Development
Network, which recognized Flawless Consulting as the most
influential book for OD practitioners over the past 40 years. He has
also written: Stewardship: Choosing Service Over Self-Interest
(1993) and The Empowered Manager: Positive Political Skills at Work
(1987). His work is about empowerment, stewardship, chosen
accountability, and the reconciliation of community.
Peter is a founding partner of Designed Learning, a training company
that offers workshops designed by Peter to build the skills outlined in
his books. Many of the most successful global companies have benefited
from attending these programs.
Continuing with our affiliate’s theme of “What we know for sure!”,
Peter will join us on May 7 starting at 1:30 PM and will share his
acquired knowledge and perspective over a diverse career including what
he has learned about organizations, leaders and staff functions. He will
share what has worked and why and more importantly, what is possible.
Peter will also focus on how to:
- Create a culture of chosen accountability
- The properties and landscape of collective transformation
- The impact HR can have in creating a new conversation
- The distinction between faith and optimism, possibility and
problem solving, and the limitation of being results minded
