Robert W. Cremin
Chairman, President & CEO
Esterline
Mr. Cremin is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive
Officer of Esterline Corporation (NYSE: ESL) and has been with the company since
1976. Since that time, he has served in virtually all its major operating areas.
He holds a Secret Clearance with the Department of Defense.
Esterline has gone through a rapid transformation since
Mr. Cremin became President in 1997. Under his leadership, the company divested
eight non-core subsidiaries, and returned to its aerospace/defense roots. The
process effecitively shrank company revenues in half to $155 Million. During the
same time, over 30 businesses were acquired to rebuild a focused aerospace /
defense Corporation. Currently, Esterline’s Revenues are in the range of $1.5
Billion.
Esterline has 39 plants around the world. In total,
Esterline employs over 10,000 people globally.
Approximately 80% of revenues are from Aerospace &
Defense, 20% is from Medical and Rail. Esterline focuses on Sensors, Advanced
Materials and Avionics. It is a Tier I supplier to Airbus and Boeing.
Mr. Cremin began his career at General Electric and at
Omark Industries, where he held a number of executive roles. He holds a BS in
Metallurgical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of New York and an MBA
from Harvard Business School.
Mr. Cremin is the British Honorary Consul of Seattle. He
serves on the Board of Directors of Dover Corp. (NYSE - $7 Billion), the Pacific
Northwest Ballet and the British-American Business Council. He was the Chairman
of the Presidents Council of the Manufacturer’s Alliance.
He collects medieval art, antique carriage clocks,
stained glass and rare books. His passion is running marathons (29 so far)
including races in New York, London, Paris, Stockholm and Berlin. Mr. Cremin
also collects wine. He has sufficient inventories of wines in his 2 cellars to
last him (at one bottle a day) for several life-times!
He lives on Mercer Island with his wife Dr. Joan Cremin,
a published author of French Literary Research. | |
